Judge Steven D. Hudson
Jeffrey A. Downey, 27, Conway, pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $42.50 and $56.50 costs.
Pleading guilty to speeding and fined $32.50 and $56.50 costs were Cody J. Baker, 18, Gilman City; Cleveland T. Porter, 35, Kansas City; and Ralph A. Bush, 48, Smithville.
Pleading guilty to speeding and fined $22.50 and $56.50 costs were Katherine B. Scarpino, 24, Des Moines, IA; and Roy B. Millsap, 16, St. Joseph.
JR Archuleta, 23, Spickard, pleaded guilty to not wearing a seat belt and was fined $10.
Shannon M. Brake, 29, 2702 Hunter Rd., pleaded guilty to failing to drive on the right half of the roadway and was fined $27.50 and $56.50 costs.
Frankie C. Griffin, 52, 412 Kavanaugh St., pleaded guilty to purchasing a motor vehicle without transferring the certification of ownership and $25.50 and $56.50 costs. He also pleaded guilty to failing to register and transfer ownership of a vehicle and was fined $25.50 and $56.50 costs. A charge of conducting a motor vehicle salvage business without a license from the Director of Revenue was dismissed.
Kathryn Wiest, 23, University City, had her bond of $143.50 and $56.50 costs forfeited on a charge of failing to register a motor vehicle annually with the Director of Revenue.
Jeremy W. Kirk, 21, 1001 E. Ninth St., pleaded guilty to not wearing a seat belt and was fined $10. A charge of failing to provide proof of insurance was dismissed.
Bradley Wade Peters, 19, 2116 E. 28th St., and Logan M. Epperson, 17, Laredo, had their cases on charges of careless and imprudent driving by excessive speed certified to Division I for jury trial (separate cases). Trial-setting was scheduled for Dec. 21 for both defendants. The cases are both being heard by Mercer County Associate Judge Brad Funk.
Matthew D. Shuler, 17, 709 W. 12th St., had his case bound over to Division I on two charges of use of a child in a sexual performance, with one of those charges having been amended from a charge of first degree statutory rape with a person less than 14 years of age. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14 and is being held without bond.
Jennifer L. Landrum, Princeton, pleaded guilty to passing bad checks and was fined $100, $104.50 and $10 to the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.
Samuel Johnson, Mercer, had two counts of passing bad checks dismissed.
Jameson R. Read, 25, 2304 Speedway, waived formal arraignment and has his case bound over to Division I on a charge of theft/stealing. Trial-setting was scheduled for Oct. 12.
Tracey R. Taylor, 20, Galt, pleaded guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement, to an amended charge of making a false affidavit (the original charge was forgery). She was sentenced to serve 30 days in the Grundy County Jail, with execution of the sentence suspended. She was placed on probation for one year and was ordered to complete 20 hours of community service. She is also to pay $104.50 costs and $10 to the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.
Michael P. Bosley, 25, 1800 Lincoln St., had a charge of third degree assault dismissed.
Jeffery O. May, 30, 829 McPherson St., pleaded guilty to an amended charge of third degree assault (the original charge was domestic assault) and was fined $100 and $114.50 costs. A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was dismissed.
Wilbur E. Brock Jr., 33, 706 E. Fifth St., pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition and operating a motor vehicle while his driver’s license was revoked. He was ordered to serve six months in jail on each charge, with the sentences to run concurrently with each other and with a sentence in the Department of Corrections. A charge of speeding was dismissed.
Small Claims
Trenton Transit Mix vs. Mike Spears. The case, which involved non-payment for materials, was dismissed.
