Mercer Falls To Cainsville
The Mercer girls softball team fell to Cainsville on Tuesday night at Mercer, 7-2.
Cainsville jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Mercer could put any runs on the board. Mercer got both of its runs in the fifth inning. Ashton Ellis had two hits to pace the Lady Cardinals, who are now 5-0. The girls will play Newtown-Harris tonight in the semifinals of the HDC Tournament at Bethany.
There was no boys game.
R-5 Boys Take A Win
The Grundy R-5 boys softball team took a 17-1 win over Winston in a three-inning affair on Tuesday.
The Panthers got two runs in the first inning and 15 in the second while Winston’s runs came in the top of the third inning. Nick Lentz scored three runs and drove in two runs while Logan Jackson had a double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Kyle Larson had two triples, five RBIs and scored two runs and Cody Brown had a triple and two runs scored. Jackson got the win, giving up three hits, four walks and three strikeouts.
The R-5 team is 4-1 and will play tonight in the HDC Tournament at Bethany.
