Vyda Rowena (Real) Gutshall died Sept. 6, 2006 at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe.
She was born March 24, 1909 at Bancroft, MO, to Frank and Nellie (Ford) Real. She attended school at Gilman City and graduated from high school there in 1927.
She married Robert Carlye Gutshall in April of 1928. They farmed in the Gilman City area until Robert’s death in 1969. Soon after her marriage, she was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilman City, where she remained a faithful member until she moved to Trenton in 1972 and joined the First Baptist Church of Trenton. She lived in Trenton until she moved to the Baptist Home in 2000.
Vyda and Robert had four children, Phyllis Appleby and Bob of West Hills, CA, Bill Gutshall and Carol of Trenton, Pat Shaw and Paul of Florissant and Bedonna and Fred Bachman of Iowa City, IA.
Robert and Vyda’s children gave them 12 grandchildren, Rhonda Lowry; Robert (deceased) and Roger Appleby; Douglas, Daniel, Dennis and William Gutshall; Kevin Shaw, Krista Callahan; Karma Brokaw, Linda Inlow and Brenda Strom.
Vyda was blessed with 29 great-grandchildren, John Lowry, Janet Mcphersen, Melinda Lowry; Ashly and Kyla Appleby; Brandon, Tara, Jeffrey, Kristen, Stephanie, Aimee, Cole and Macy Gutshall; Brian Wallace, K.P. Shaw; Melissa Preis, Michelle Callahan; Justin Brokaw, Kidron Miller; Jeremy, Jordan, Jackson, Keilah and Kaylin Brokaw; Jennifer and Julie Inlow; Lindsey Quinn, Megan and Michele Strom.
Two great-great-grandchildren have been added to this family, Ella Quinn and Katrina Wallace.
Preceding Vyda in death were her husband, Robert Gutshall; a grandson, Robert Appleby; and her parents, Nellie and Frank Real.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton, with the funeral to immediately follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Gilman City following the funeral service. Services are under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
