Friends of the Arts Season Tickets On Sale Next Week

Season tickets will go on sale next week for the 2006-2007 Grundy County Friends of the Arts program.

Tickets will be $50 for a family, $40 for a couple and $25 for a single. North Central Missouri College students are admitted free with a valid student ID card.
Tickets will be available at the Ketcham Community Center, the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Grundy County Friends of the Arts, PO Box 201, Trenton, MO 64683. General admission prices will range from $8 to $15, depending on the show.
Corporate co-sponsors of shows this season include the Martha Ball Memorial Gift Fund, Citizens Bank and Trust, Hy-Vee Food Store, PAR Broadcasting Group, Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling LLC, the Trenton Republican-Times and U.S. Bank. Additional co-sponsorship is provided by donations from individuals and other businesses in the community with financial assistance also being provided by the Missouri Arts Council.
The initial program of the season will be on Sunday, Sept. 24 when the St. James United Methodist Church Mass Choir from Kansas City performs at the Wesley United Methodist church. The choir is under the direction of Dr. Michael L. Charles and will perform a wide variety of sacred music, which includes spirituals, hymns, songs of inspiration, instrumental, contemporary and traditional gospel music. The program will be at 4 p.m.
Nora Hulse of Columbia will present a program, “Nora Hulse Ragtime,” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, also at the Wesley United Methodist Church. The program features ragtime music composed by women.
The orchestra “Moonlight Serenade” will perform at the Grundy County Senior Center on Saturday, Nov. 11. Tunes from World War II will be featured in a recreation of an authentic USO Canteen Show and Dance. The orchestra members dress in authentic World War II U.S. Army Air Corps uniforms and 1940s era attire. Show time will be at 7 p.m.
The Trenton Acting Guild will be featured in the Friends of the Arts annual “Native Series.” TAG will present three performances on Nov. 16,l 17 and 18 at the Hoover Community Theater, located on the third floor of the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.
The annual Trenton High School Christmas Vesper Service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton. The Christmas season tradition will be at 4 p.m.
The celebration of the Trenton Sesquicentennial official kicks off on Friday, Feb. 2 with “Judy Domeny Bowen: Ozark Pioneer and Farm Stories and Music.” Pioneer and farm heritage will be depicted through story, comedy and song as Ms. Bowen accompanies herself on the acoustic guitar and occasionally a banjo or mountain dulcimer. The show will be at 7 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church.
The popular Branson family musical group, The Braschlers, will appear at the Ketcham Community Center on Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. Their repertoire includes country, bluegrass, comedy and gospel tunes.
The Heart of American Barbershop Chorus will perform at the KCC on Saturday, March 31. The 7 p.m. show features the second oldest chapter in the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The NCMC Players will present their spring play on April 20-21 at the Hoover Community Theater. NCMC students will present a play at 7:30 each evening.
