THS Golf & Tennis Team In Chillicothe

The Trenton High School girls golf and tennis teams travelled to Chillicothe on Tuesday afternoon. Both teams fell to the Hornets. The tennis team lost, 3-6, while the golf team fell, 212-199.

Tennis
The Lady Bulldogs ran into tough competition in the top three spots. Chillicothe ran over Trenton’s top three players, outscoring them, 24-3.
Elizabeth Hoffman lost her number one singles match, 0-8. Brandi Thorne also lost her number two singles match, 0-8. The pair also played number one doubles and lost, 2-8.
At number three singles, Bobbi Lovell fell, 3-8. Trenton’s lower singles players fared better, winning two of the three matches. Kimby Brown won at number four, 8-3, and Felisha Anderson took the number five singles match, 8-4.
Rebekah Boone lost her number six singles match, but rebounded with the help of Anderson, her doubles partner, to win the number three doubles match, 8-4. Lovell and Brown teamed up to play number two doubles and lost, 2-8.
“We didn’t fare very well against Chillicothe’s experienced top 3, but we held our own in most of the other matches,” Coach Mike Bosley said. “We have our lineup established and have one match under our belt, so it is time to work on our games.”

1. Hoffman-Thorne lost to Barker-Pyrtle, 2-8.
2. Lovell-Brown lost to Turner-Moore, 3-8.
3. Anderson-Boone beat Lindley-Boyer, 8-4

Lindsey Creason beat Camie Griffin, 6-2.
Ciara Gibson beat Molly Marcolla, 6-0.
Doubles Results (1-6)
Mackenzie Hall-Lindsey Dustman lost to Griffin-Marcolla, 4-6
Ashley Bramblett-Phoebe Kitchen beat Meredith Brick-Amanda Ireland, 7-5.
Vanessa Williams-Ellen Knapp lost to Mary Bonnette and Megan Scott, 1-6.
Callie Bacon-Bailey Eaton lost Meredith Brick and Bonnette, 3-6.
Mercedes Barron-Chelsi Miller lost to Madeline Brick-Bonnette, 0-6.
Michelle Gay-Shawna Lober lost to Ireland-Scott, 4-6.
Savannah Hanson-Kristi Geib lost to Brick-Brick, 0-6.
Golf
The THS girls golf team lost to Chillicothe by 13 strokes, 212-199. Hadley Jennings played well for THS, shooting a meet best 44 and earning medalist honors.
Jennings got off to strong starting, shooting 1-under on the opening three holes.
“Hadley played well again today. She had a very good round and was again the medalist,” Head Coach Ann Constant said. “I’m very proud of Hadley.”
Taylor Cox finished her round with a score of 53. Cox ran into the trouble at the end of her round, shooting nine-over on her final three holes.
Molly Holeman shot a 56. She ran into problems midway through her round, but recovered toward the end.
“We still need to work on consistency and getting rid of the one, two and three bad holes,” Constant said. “It is early in the season and I think it will come around.”
Kiley Slater shot a 59. Like Holeman, Slater struggled in the middle of her round. Aaron Smith shot a 62, but her score did not count in the final team total.
Chillicothe was led by Katelin Gann with a 46. Cholie Allen and Maddie Anderson each shot a 49. Vanessa Jones rounded out the Lady Hornets scoring, which counted, with a 55.
The junior varsity teams played using the best three scores. Trenton’s Katherine Hoffman was the junior varsity medalist. She carded a 54. Emily Schmidt and Hannah Barron both shot a 56. THS finished with a combined score of 166. The Lady Hornets shot a combined score of 195.
“Katherine, Emily and Hannah had good scores and won the junior varsity portion of the meet,” Constant said. “We counted our three and Chillicothe’s best three for a junior varsity score.”
The THS tennis and golf teams will be back in action on Thursday, heading to St. Joseph Lafayette.
