Paul Alexander Nickell, an 85-year-old resident of Lineville, IA, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chariton, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 at the Clio Baptist Church in Clio, IA. Pastor Joe Moreno and Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in the Clio Cemetery under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville.
Open visitation is under way. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Aug. 14, 2006) at the funeral home.
Mr. Nickell was born in Lineville on Feb. 26, 1921, the son of Albert Calvin and Lulu May Jones Nickell.
On July 17, 1943, he was married to Louise Snodgrass. She survives him of the home. The couple had lived and farmed in Wayne County their entire lives.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in World War II. After his discharge in 1945 he worked for the service station at the intersection of Highways 2 and 65 and Skelly in Lineville for 20 years. He also worked for Voltmaster in Corydon, IA for 20 years. He was an active member of the Clio Baptist Church and an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Reynolds and her husband, Gregory of VanWert, IA, Brenda Miller and her husband, Keith of Kirksville, and Claudia Summers of Pleasant Hill; three sons, Loris Nickell and his wife, Paula of Allerton,IA, Les Nickell of Chariton, and Dana Nickell and his wife, Heather of Corydon; 21 grandchildren, Richard, Jon, Aaron, Robert, Nathan, Sarah, Kimberley, Jordan, Patrick and Melia Nickell; Chris, Kari, April and Breanna Miller, Jarrod and Jason Summers, Rachel Reece, Stephanie Covington, Amy Smith, Katina Roper and Brandy Shriver; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe and Makenna Reece, Makayla and Jayden Nickell, Greyden Henry, Hayley Morris, Shayla Roper and Brayden Smith; two brothers, Lewis Nickell and his wife, Janice of Eagle Grove, IA, and Gilbert Nickell and his wife, Norma of Renwick, IA; a sister, Pauline Waldron and her husband, John of Blue Grass, IA; and by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Keaton, Iola Mulvania and Esther Wilder; and three brothers, Earl, AC and Calvin Nickell.
