Mary M. Shea, a 106-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006 at the LaVerna Village in Savannah.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at the Horigan Chapel. Burial was in the Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
Mrs. Shea was born on July 31, 1900 in Leavenworth, the daughter of Michael and Catherine Brennan Murphy. She had resided in St. Joseph since 1954. She was a cook at Herman’s Drug Store for five years and later for the hot lunch program at the former Immaculate Conception School.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, the St. Anne’s Altar Society, Ladies of Charity, Daughters of Isabella and was past president of the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 Ladies Auxiliary at Trenton.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Charlene Drake of Trenton, Denice Eaton of Clinton, OK, and Mary Lou Moore of Elida, NM; eight great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and her dear friends, Laurine McNeely and Frank Punzo, both of St. Joseph.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel B. Shea; two sons, Charles D. Brown and Richard D. Brown; and a brother, James B. Murphy.
