Funeral services for Barbara Jean Jones were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Jeff Long and Brother Richard Key officiated.

Miss Jones, a 73-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Thursday, July 6 2006 at the Lee’s Summit Hospital, where she had been a patient since June 29, 2006.

Cathie Lowrey was the organist and Dave Madden was the soloist. Music included “One Day at a Time” and “Beyond the Sunset.”

Pallbearers were Freddie Key, Monte Bonnett, Tom Perry, Raymond Adams, Roy Harrison, Eugene Hutson and Bob McVay.

Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

The family requests memorials to either the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church or the S.M. Rissler Elementary School.

Miss Jones was born on March 1, 1933 near Hickory, the daughter of Edsel C. and Helen C. Boriff Jones. She was raised in the Hickory community and graduated from Trenton High School and Trenton Junior College. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Maryville State Teachers College. She started teaching at the Gee School near Hickory and stayed their until it closed. She then began teaching at the S.M. Rissler Elementary School in Trenton, teaching first grade for over 30 years until she retired.

She was a member of the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church.

Miss Jones is survived by one brother, Harold Jones of Trenton; and three cousins, Jim and Gary Whorton of Trenton and Duane Boriff of Decatur, IL.
