Buildling Board Considers Properties
The Trenton Building and Nuisance Board set public hearings on four properties, declared several others as nuisances and agreed to work with an owner making improvements on her property during a meeting on Monday night at city hall.
Public hearings were set for July 24 on properties owned by Rebecca Morton at 302 E. 27th St.; by Julie Templeton at 205 Pleasant View; by Ron Peterie at 403 Jefferson; and by Carl Kinion at 612 W. 18th St.
The board also discussed a fifth property on the list, located at 2212 Chicago St. and owned by Cynthia Robertson. Ms. Robert-son, who was present at the meeting, has compiled a list of improvements to be made on the property and will meet with Building Inspector Gary Beverlin to work out a timetable as to when the work on the list is to be done.
The board also voted to condemn property at 316 E. Crowder Road, owned by Peterie, and will have the structure torn down. A letter will be sent to Peterie informing him of this action.
Reports were given on several properties already on the board’s list and it was decided to declare several as nuisances, with letters to be sent to the owners. They include 920 Main St., owned by Peterie; 1004 Laclede, owned by Bill Oesterling; and 1300 Tinsman Ave,, 2304 Mable St. and 22nd and Lulu, owned by Gary Hanes.
Beverlin was also asked to visit with the owners of the trailer park on Lake Street and work with them on getting the area cleaned up. It was noted some improvements have been made but that more are needed.
The board discussed several properties on which homes had been burned, noting that the structures need to be taken down and removed as soon as possible. Beverlin is to talk with those owners.
The board also recognized Barry Oneal for his service to the board for the past several years. He left the board after his term expired earlier this year.
Prior to the board meeting, an orientation was held for new board members Chuck Elliott and David Trickel.
