C.S. “Stanley” Coffman, a 96-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Friday evening, June 9, 2006 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

C.S. “Stanley” Coffman, a 96-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Friday evening, June 9, 2006 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Edinburg Baptist Church. Rev. Stan Rushton officiated. Burial was in the Richardson Cemetery at Laredo.

Mr. Coffman was born on Nov. 13, 1909 near Laredo, the son of Alva and Melvina “Vina” Sanford Coffman. He attended Grundy County schools. He had been a Grundy County resident since 1948. He moved to a farm west of Trenton in 1948 after working for National Battery Company for 15 years, working the last four years as an engineer overseeing the building of four new plants and installing all equipment in several cities during the 1940s. After retiring from the farm, he moved to Trenton in the early 1970s. He repaired lawmowers as a hobby.

He was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church at Edinburg.

He was married at Kansas City on May 18, 1935 to Erma B. Livingston, who preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1988.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynda Peach and her husband, Brian, of Milton, FL; one grandson, Scott Peach of Mobile, AL; one granddaughter, Michele Peach Rassmussen of Marietta, GA; one sister, Inabelle Nelson of Kansas City; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Coffman in 1937 and Beulah Bowman in 1997; and one brother, Nova Coffman in 2003.
