The Third Annual North Central Missouri College High School Art Show included 118 total accepted works, with a student from Lathrop and one from Chillicothe taking top honors.

The Third Annual North Central Missouri College High School Art Show included 118 total accepted works, with a student from Lathrop and one from Chillicothe taking top honors.
First Place, Best of Show went to Bailey Spangler of Lathrop High School for her ceramic entry. A student of Debbie Nelson, she will receive a $350 scholarship to NCMC.
Second Place, Best of Show, went to Katie Myers of Chillicothe High School for her acrylic painting. She is a student of Dorlene Meneely and will receive a $250 scholarship to NCMC.
According to Jim Norris, NCMC art instructor and director of the Dorris Rider Art Gallery, 11 schools and one home schooled student submitted a total of 308 works of art of which 118 were accepted for the show. Criteria for acceptance to the show included evidence of pre-college artistic ability, projects that fit into the category of Fine Art and overall presentation. Only high school seniors were eligible for the Best of Show scholarship awards.
The exhibit will be on display in the Dorris Rider Art Gallery until May 19. Regular gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
