The Trenton Tree Board will observe Arbor Day on Friday with a program at 2:30 p.m. in the grounds of the Trenton Middle School.

The program will include the signing of a proclamation by Trenton Mayor Gary Hall, proclaiming April 28 as Arbor Day in Trenton. He will also present savings bonds to the first-, second- and third-place winners in the Arbor Day poster contest held in February.

In honor of Arbor Day, board members Chuck Lankheit and Gordon Joiner have coordinated with the eighth grade class of Diana Klinginsmith to plant three Prairiefire Crabapple trees along the city’s walking trail. Member of that class will participate in Friday’s celebration, which is open to the public.
