Les Spickard of Trenton was named an Honorary State FFA Degree recipient at the 78th Missouri FFA Convention.

Spickard is currently an animal control officer for the Trenton Police Department. His involvement in livestock judging contests includes set-up for livestock judging classes, nose printing livestock for the state fair, sponsors trophies for various fairs, artificially inseminates hogs and cattle for the youth and helps the youth with many livestock projects.

He has been a member of the North Central Missouri Fair Board for more than 25 years and the livestock superintendent for more than 15 years. He was also the local fair board president for four years.

Spickard has been married for 32 years and has four children and four grandchildren. His children all participated in FFA and received many awards and offices. He is now helping his grandson get started with the livestock in 4-H until he is ready for FFA. Spickard plans to do the same with the other grandchildren once they are old enough.

Spickard received his State FFA Degree and was also a chapter vice-president and the sub-district treasurer. He received awards such as the sub-district livestock award and is an Honorary Chapter Farmer for the Trenton chapter.

The Missouri FFA Association recognizes Honorary State FFA Degree recipients each year at its annual state convention for their valuable efforts and contributions to the FFA organization and its members. Those eligible to receive the Honorary FFA Degree include farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, businessmen, and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA while rendering outstanding service.
