Joyce Teater, an 82-year-old resident of Ottumwa, IA, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Hospice of Davis-Wapello County in Ottumwa. She was a former Trenton resident.

Joyce Teater, an 82-year-old resident of Ottumwa, IA, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Hospice of Davis-Wapello County in Ottumwa. She was a former Trenton resident.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. Rev. James Wakelin will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Dabney Myers and Kathy Dabney Bialota. A visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Teater was born April 26, 1923 in Southport, England, the daughter Authur and Betty Ball Rimmer. She grew up in Southport and came to the United States following her marriage to her husband of more than 50 years, Max E. Teater of Corydon, IA, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2001. She was a resident of Edina for 29 years prior to living recently in Bloomfield, IA and Ottumwa.

Mrs. Teater was a member of numerous clubs and organizations in Edina, including the Culture Club and the Browning Club, and was secretary for Senior Citizen Housing for a number of years. She was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She and her husband owned and operated the Herzog Lumber Company for a number of years. They were actively involved in the Edina County Club Mrs. Teater enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge and golf.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Martin of Bloomfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Dang Teater of Albuquerque, NM and Paul and Linda Teater of Lee’s Summit; one brother, Richard Rimmer and his wife, Delvia, of County Durham, England; five grandchildren, Thomas and Austin Teater of Albuquerque, Jessica Martin of Ankeny, IA, Ian Martin of Milwaukee, WI and Bryce Teater of Columbia; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Allison.
