Graveside services for Frances Russ will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Galt West Cemetery at Galt.

An open visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mrs. Russ, a 89-year-old former Galt resident, died on Sunday evening, April 2, 2006 at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City.

Mrs. Russ was born on Dec. 22, 1916 in Galt, the daughter of Dale Thomas and Lena Ruth Winters Shelton. She was married on Feb. 14, 1948 in Kansas City to Robert Russ, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1980.

Mrs. Russ received a master’s degree in education from Northeast Missouri State and taught elementary school at Mud College, north of Galt, Laredo, Milan and the Nashua school in North Kansas City. She had been a member of the Galt Christian Church and the Second Creek Christian Church in the Kansas City area.

She is survived by two sons, Jim Russ and his wife, Cathy of Kansas City and Ronald Russ and his wife, Carolyn, of Canby, OR; a step-son, Richard Russ of Nebraska; a sister, Virginia Youlin of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Roy Rex and Burl Henry Shelton.
