Edward Davis “Ed” Geyer, a 90-year-old longtime Trenton resident, died at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where he was admitted on Wednesday, March 8, 2006.

Edward Davis “Ed” Geyer, a 90-year-old longtime Trenton resident, died at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where he was admitted on Wednesday, March 8, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton. Rev. Jennifer Jennings will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Friday, March 10, 2006) at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton.

Mr. Geyer was born on Dec. 9, 1915 in Maryville, the son of Raymond and Stella Davis Geyer. He graduated from Graham High School in Graham and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville. He received a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

He was married on May 29, 1941 at Bethany to Jean Frazier, who survives of the home. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1944, serving in the European Theater during World War II. The couple moved to Trenton in 1948 and he served as principal of the Trenton schools until 1966 as well as dean of North Central Missouri College, retiring in 1979. He served as president of the National Principals Association as well as president of the Board of Regents at Northwest Missouri State College. He was the past commander of the Joseph L Norton VFW Post No. 919 and the Major Dale Stepp American Legion Post No. 31 at Trenton. He was a member of the Hodge Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a church elder.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bill, and his wife, Judi, of Savannah; a brother, Ferman Geyer and his wife, Barbara, of Muncie, IN; an uncle, Quentin Geyer and his wife, Louise, of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Dena Lederman and her husband, David, of West Bloomfield, MI, and Brett Geyer of Thief River Falls, MN; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jonah Lederman of West Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Cooksey; and a brother, Philip.

The family suggests memorials to the North Central Missouri College scholarship fund.
