The Rissler Elementary School PTO met Tuesday evening, voting to make a donation and learning about an internet search engine that will provide money to the school district.

The group voted to donate $25 to the Trenton High School junior class in appreciation for the class allowing the PTO to use popcorn and oil during the recent Valentine’s Day Family Sock Hop. The sock hop was discussed and it was agreed to hold another one next year. The group learned about an internet search engine, located at www.goodsearch.com, that will pay one cent to the school district for each search conducted. Users should put “Trenton R-IX Schools” in the charity box in order for the district to receive the funds, which are disbursed once each year.

In other business, the upcoming spring basket auction, set for April 27 during the spring music program, was discussed, with committee members to determine what baskets will be offered this year. It was also noted that the fitness cluster for the playground has been ordered and installation is planned for this spring. It was also noted that McTeacher Night is March 27 and that students in the LEAP program are seeking old electronics (other than televisions) and cell phones to be used as part of a unit.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 4.
