A total of 100 students from Rissler Elementary School and Trenton Middle School attended the annual Children’s Literature Festival held Tuesday on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

A total of 100 students from Rissler Elementary School and Trenton Middle School attended the annual Children’s Literature Festival held Tuesday on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
The students earned the privilege of attending the festival by reading six books from the Mark Twain nominee list and passing a computer test over each book.
TMS students met with authors Dori Butler, Carol Gorman, Brenda Seabrooke, Barbara Robinson, Vivien VandeVelde and Lisa Yee. Rissler students met with four authors.
The authors spoke with students about their personal journeys to becoming professional authors. Regular reading and note-taking were practices mentioned by all of the writers. Students were able to ask questions and interact with authors as they autographed books.
Rissler Librarian Susan Ward and TMS Librarian Mary Peterson accompanied the students, assisted by several parents and staff members.
