Floyd Marsena Dougherty, a 92-year-old resident of the Laredo area, died at 9:07 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Liberty Hospital.

Floyd Marsena Dougherty, a 92-year-old resident of the Laredo area, died at 9:07 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Liberty Hospital. He had been a resident of Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton since September 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Pastor Mike Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Stucker Cemetery, south of Laredo.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of the service.

Mr. Dougherty was born on May 24, 1913 in Bedford, IA, the son of Jesse Floyd and Effie Lydia Horning Dougherty. He was married on Dec. 16, 1933 at Rock Port to Susanna McAlpin, who survives of Eastview Manor Care Center. They moved to the Laredo area in the fall of 1934, then back to Iowa in 1936 for four years before returning to the Laredo area, where he spent his life farming.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Billy Dougherty and his wife, Vera, of Laredo; a grandson, Richard Dougherty and his wife, Shelli, of Cairo; two granddaughters, Betty Sjolin and her husband, Jack, of Livermore, CA, and Beverly Moore and her husband, Mark, of Trenton; great-grandchildren, April Sutterfield and her husband, Matthew, of Centralia, Catherine Dunkerson and her husband, Troy, of Columbia, William Dougherty of Columbia, Elizabeth Brassfield of Livermore, Eric Brassfield of Chico, CA, Mariah and Miles Moore of Trenton, Kailee Geoseling of Cairo and Aaron and Andy Dougherty of Cairo; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Grant Sutterfield of Centralia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Jones; and two brothers, Willard and Harry.

The family suggests memorials to the Laredo Christian Church or the donor’s choice.
