Marcella Smith, an 80-year-old former Jamesport resident, died on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Marcella Smith, an 80-year-old former Jamesport resident, died on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Pilot Grove No. 1 Baptist Church near Jamesport. Burial was in the Pilot Grove No. 1 Cemetery at Jamesport.
Mrs. Smith was born on March 27, 1925 in Greenfield, the daughter of Don Sr., and Hattie Calfee Laffoon. She moved to Trenton in 1933 and graduated from Trenton High School in 1943. She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Trenton after graduation, then became a homemaker.
She was married on June 16, 1946 in Trenton to Hubert Nevin Smith, who preceded her in death in 1986. They were the parents of two sons, Jerry Lynn and James “Jim” Richard.
She was an active member of the Pilot Grove No. 1 Baptist Church for many years, serving on many committees. After her husband’s death, she moved to Jamesport and joined the Jamesport Baptist Church. She was an active and lifetime member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion of Trenton and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the V.A. Hospital, putting on programs and serving refreshments.
Memorials are suggested to the Pilot Grove No. 1 Cemetery or the Jamesport Baptist Church.
