Russell D. Stretch, an 84-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday, evening, Feb. 28, 2006 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Russell D. Stretch, an 84-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday, evening, Feb. 28, 2006 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Old Scottland Cemetery, north of Jameson. An open visitation is in progress at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mr. Stretch, was born on Jan. 8, 1922 in Jamesport, the son of Richard and Salley Louise Terry Stretch. He attended Scottland Grade School at Jameson, and Gallatin High School.
He was veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department and Howard Construction Co. before retiring. He was a member of Old Scottland Church Of Christ, north of Jameson.
He was married on July 21, 1942 at Gallatin to Naomi Hobbs, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by four daughters, Beverly Thompson and her husband, Duane, of Chillicothe, Bonnie Morin and her husband. Charles. of Chillicothe, Connie Knapp of Camden, ME and Patsy Blake and her husband, Zeke, of Chillicothe; one son, Terry Stretch and his wife, Linda, of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters. Bernice Troxel, Viola Moulin and Leota Maharge; one brother, Roy Stretch; and one infant daughter, Sandra Lee Stretch.
Memorials have been suggested to the Old Scottland Cemetery at Jameson.
