Shirley M. Meyer, a 71-year-old resident of Jefferson City, died on Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Mary’s Health Center. She was the mother of Linda Anders of Trenton.

Shirley M. Meyer, a 71-year-old resident of Jefferson City, died on Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Mary’s Health Center. She was the mother of Linda Anders of Trenton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Fr. Brendan Doyle and Fr. Jeremy A. Secrist will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. Meyer was born on May 21, 1934 in Jefferson City, the daughter of Irvin L. “Pete” and Odelia “Tillie” Walterscheidt Starke. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Peter’s High School. She was married in Jefferson City on April 27, 1953 to C. Lloyd Meyer, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2002.

Mrs. Meyer worked as a sales clerk at Dallmeyer’s Jewelry Store until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, was a member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals’ fan.

She is survived by three sons Greg L. Meyer of Jefferson City, Thomas L. Meyer and his wife, Tammy of Jefferson City and Scott E. Meyer and his wife, Cheryl, of Liberty; five daughters, Linda M. Anders and her husband, Paul, of Trenton, Debbie L. Hilke and her husband, Don of Jefferson City, Teresa A. Mackay and her husband, Roger, of Holts Summit, Barb L. Gordon and her husband, Greg, of Holts Summit and Carol J. Meyer of Vero Beach, FL; 15 grandchildren, Allen, Matt, Todd and Aaron Meyer, Amy DeClue and her husband, Ron, Tim Meyer, Bryan Anders, Alex Hilke, Steven and Thomas Meyer, Jennifer Turner and husband Ben, Tyler and Sommer Mackay and Austin and Erin Gordon; three great-grandchildren: Dorian Meyer, Lilly Meyer and Mackayla Turner; and a brother, Clint Starke of Lockport, NY.

The family suggests memorials to the Helias Foundation, the Vitae Society or the St. Mary’s Health Center Oncology Fund in care of Sandra Hewlett Director of Cancer Services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors – Jefferson City Chapel.
