Nota Rhoades, a 76-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had resided since Jan. 24, 2006.

Nota Rhoades, a 76-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had resided since Jan. 24, 2006.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
An open visitation is under way at the mortuary.
Mrs. Rhoades was born on Jan. 4, 1930 in Mercer County, the daughter of Rev. Lavern and Garnett Golsby Wood. She was raised in the Spickard community and graduated in 1947 from Spickard High School. She attended Maryville State Teachers College and Bolivar Baptist College. She taught in rural schools around Spickard before her marriage on June 28, 1952 at Princeton to Everett Rhoades, who survives of the home. After their marriage, they farmed in the Half Rock community for many years before moving to a farm north of Princeton, where they lived for 19 years. They moved to Trenton to make their home in September 2005. Mrs. Rhoades was an avid gardrner, enjoyed cooking for her family and did quilting and worked crossword puzzles. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Bill Rhoades and his wife, Carlene, of Trenton; one daughter, Dona Schooler and her husband, David, of Spickard; two brothers, John Wood of Trenton and Danny Wood of Kansas City; two sisters, Marian Kasparson of Trenton and Barbara Casner of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Brody Schooler, Courtney Schooler and her fiancee, Aaron Bunnell, April Bond and her husband, Eric, and Brigette Rhoades and one great-grandson, Justin Cole Rhoades.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dona Privett; and two nephews, Norman Wood and Dennis Casner.
