The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce recognized two of its own during the annual meeting on Friday night at the Lakeview Restaurant.
Dave Woodson of Trenton was honored as the chamber’s Ambassador of the Year while KTTN radio was recognized as the Business of the Year. Both Woodson and station owner John Anthony Ausberger received plaques from Chamber CEO John Woodrich, who introduced each of the award recipients.
Woodson has been an member of the Trenton Ambassadors for several years, serving in a number of capacities both in a leadership and organizational role. In accepting his award, Woodson thanked a number of individuals, but noted that without the help of others, he would have never received the honor.
“We ask ourselves what service is and it is something you do for someone else without receiving recognition for it,” he said. “In business, what brings you back is the service you get. Good service by others brings new people into our community.”
Woodson, who has been involved with youth through his participation in a number of community activities, stressed the importance of working with those youth to become community leaders.
“Each of us is a mentor and I ask each of you to mentor our young people to make this a better place to live,” he said.
KTTN radio recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and Ausberger recognized his co-workers as being a key reason for the station’s longevity.
“It is not an individual effort, it is more of a team effort,” Ausberger said.
He thanked members of the business community who have continued to support the station with advertising and also thanked its listeners from their continued support as well.
“We couldn’t have been broadcasting for 50 years without our listeners, so thanks to all of you for letting us keep our jobs,” Ausberger joked.
He went on to tell some of the ways the station has been involved in the community, including partnering with the R-9 School District and North Central Missouri College on various projects.
“We will continue to move on,” Ausberger said.”
Recognition was given to outgoing board members Rick Klinginsmith and Larry Leininger as well as outgoing ambassadors Sharla Linville and Connie Hurst. Introduced were the current and newly-elected board members as well as the members of the Trenton Ambassadors.
Will Findley, a 14-year-old resident of Bethany, provided the evening’s entertainment with a magic show.
