William E. “Bill” Groomer, an 83-year-old resident of Stanberry, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at a hospital in Albany. He was the father of Joyce Howren of Stanberry, formerly of Trenton.

William E. “Bill” Groomer, an 83-year-old resident of Stanberry, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at a hospital in Albany. He was the father of Joyce Howren of Stanberry, formerly of Trenton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Stanberry. Burial will be in the High Ridge Cemetery at Stanberry.
General visitation begins after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel in Stanberry. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mr. Groomer was born on Sept. 15, 1922 in Pattonbsurg, the son of Claud and Gertrude Starmer Groomer. He was married on April 13, 1947 in King City to Lela Dollars, who survives of the home.
He co-owned the Skelly Service Station and later co-owned the Dollar’s Clothing Store. He had contracted the Stanberry school buses for 28 years at the time of his retirement. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the Raymond Sager American Legion Post No. 260 at Stanberry and the Stanberry Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Joyce Howren and her husband, Gary, of Stanberry; a son, John Groomer and his wife, Debbie, of Stanberry; and four grandsons, Bret and Clint Howren, Jared Groomer and his wife, Theresa, and Nicholas Groomer.
The family suggests memorials to the Stanberry First Baptist Church. They may be mailed to the Roberson-Polley Chapel, PO Box 153, Stanberry, MO 64489.
