Melissa Gay, a junior at Trenton High School, has been chosen to represent Trenton at the Missouri Fine Arts Academy this summer.

Students accepted for the academy must be nominated by a faculty member at their school, submit an essay and a videtaped recording of their art. Along with this honor, Miss Gay was recently chosen as an alternate for the Missouri All-State Choir, the highest honor a vocal music student can receive while in high school. She has been a drum major for the THS Band, a member of the all-district choir for three years and received Superior I ratings for district solo, two years; state solo, two years; district ensemble, one year; and Aria and Art Song Festival, two years. She was a member of the MCDA Honor Choir for two years, named soprano honor camper at the Northwest Missouri State University Music Camp for two years and awarded a scholarship to attend music camp from Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity for women. She has been a member of concert choir and Gold Rush since her freshman year.

Miss Gay is the daughter of Sharry Gay of Trenton.
