George Vernard Pinnick, a 69-year-old resident of Milan, died on Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2006 as the result of injuries received in a farming accident on his farm near Milan.

George Vernard Pinnick, a 69-year-old resident of Milan, died on Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2006 as the result of injuries received in a farming accident on his farm near Milan.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Milan. Revs. Rowland Reitz and Jack Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
Music was provided by Jack Ferguson, Bob Walker, D.G. Lynch, Gloria Smith and Carol Livingston.
Pallbearers were Chad Shaw, Brady Pinnick, Jarod Pinnick, Jim King, Bobby Williams and Michael Hostetter. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Ferguson, Bobby Walker, Richard Clark, C.J. Michael, Gerald Rardon, Bruce Arnold and Dean Rogers.
Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pinnick was born on Feb. 23, 1936 at Willard, the son of Ira Victor and Mary Katheryne Shellhammer Pinnick. He lived most of his life in Sullivan County near Milan. He owned and operated Pinnick Trenching and Digging Service and was employed by the Sullivan County Rural Water District for several years. He was a farmer and served as a trustee fro the Polk Township Board for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Chad, race.
He was married on Dec. 18, 1955 in Milan to Geraldine Rogers, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one son, Buck Pinnick and his wife, Anita, of Milan; two daughters, Chris Shaw of Kansas City and Sharon Batye and her husband, Bruce, of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Chad V. Shaw, Jerod Pinnick, Brady Pinnick, Scott Blackman and Shawn Blackman and his wife, Julie; two great-grandchildren, Kale and Madison Blackman; three brothers, Marvin Pinnick and his wife, Earlene, of Trenton, Loren Pinnick and his wife, Ann, of Overland Park, KS, and Raymond Pinnick of Gladstone; two sisters, Jo Endicott and her husband, Robert, of Overland Park, and Jane High of Marion, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brandon V. Shaw.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church in Milan.
