Alfred Rowoth, an 89-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where he had resided since Jan. 3, 2006.

Alfred Rowoth, an 89-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where he had resided since Jan. 3, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Honey Creek Cemetery, northeast of Trenton, with military graveside rites to follow.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006) at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mr. Rowoth was born on Feb. 23, 1916 in Grundy County, the son of Joseph Earl and Alpha Holloway Rowoth. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married on June 23, 1944 in Wichita, KS to Nema Martin, who survives of the home. He worked at Grundy County Lumber Company from 1946 to 1959 and was a mail carrier in Trenton and the rural routes from 1959 to 1984. He also taught at a rural school for two years before entering the Army. His hobby was gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Wintress Welliver and her husband, Lane, of Pleasant Hill; two brothers, Melvin Rowoth of Brunswick and Paul Rowoth of Columbia; two sisters, Mary Curtis and Inis Lynch, both of Trenton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Olin Rowoth; and two sisters, Dorothy Rowoth and Thelma Rowoth.

The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund. They may be left at the church or left at or mailed to the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer St., Trenton, MO 64683.
