Ruth Rushton, an 85-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at the Beverly Health Care Nursing Home in Smithville.

Ruth Rushton, an 85-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at the Beverly Health Care Nursing Home in Smithville.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 at the Princeton Cemetery. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton.

Open visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rushton was born on June 11, 1920 at Princeton, the daughter of Charles Edward and Jennie May Mulvania Beverage. She lived nearly all her life in Princeton, where she was a member of the Princeton First Baptist Church. Due to failing health, she moved from Princeton to a nursing facility in Kansas City in August 2003 and had been a resident of the Beverly Health Care Nursing Home at Smithville since August of last year.

She was married on Sept. 5, 1936 in Princeton to Virgil Rushton, who preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1971.

She is survived by two daughters, Helen Reed and her husband, Robert, of Corydon, IA and Diana Chandler and her husband, Wayne, of Smithville; five grandchildren, Carol Mayberry, Tom Reed, Mary Dusenbery, Monica Chandler and Lori Chandler-Blake; 10 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence “Gussie” Orndorff, Rozella Sims and an infant sister, Florence; and four brothers, Raymond, Walter, Cleveland and Howard Beverage.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Princeton First Baptist Church. Contributions may be mailed to the church at PO Box 201, Princeton, MO 64673.
