Funeral services for Mildred Whitaker will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Danny Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Honey Creek Cemetery, northeast of Trenton.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006) at the mortuary. General visitation is under way.

Mrs. Whitaker, an 82-year-old lifelong resident of the Trenton area, died at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at her home.

Mrs. Whitaker was born on Oct. 31, 1923 in Edinburg, the daughter of Jesse Leroy and May Christene Hutchinson Bryant. She attended Trenton High School.

She was married on June 1, 1948 to Shirley Max Whitaker, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1992. They worked together on their farm northeast of Trenton.

Survivors include one son, Donald Max Whitaker and his wife, Terry, of Trenton; three sisters, Oma Kent of Trenton, Florence Lea Ash of Blue Springs and Eula Klinginsmith of Kansas City; and two grandchildren, Jacy Arnold of Eugene, OR and Damon Whitaker of Trenton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Oswalt; and a brother, James Bryant.

The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
