The Grundy County Assessor’s Office will be sending out personal tax assessment forms during the week of Jan. 2.
Grundy County Assessor Don Stotts said he would like the public to understand more about the assessment forms, which have printing on both sides. The front side includes a computer listing of personal property that is already on record, such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, livestock, farm equipment, etc. There is also a place to fill in changes in real estate. Directions are located on the top of the form. The other side of the form allows taxpayers to add any new personal property that is not on the front page. Stotts said that knowing what is already on record is a big step when filling out a new assessment form.
Stotts noted that 2006 is a re-assessment year and his office will be working diligently to update all records involved in the process.
“A fair and accurate assessment is what we want to achieve,” he said. “With the help and understanding of the taxpayers, we will accomplish this task.”
