Dorothy Murphy-Allen, a 91-year-old resident of 310 Linn St. in Trenton, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where she had been a patient since Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.

Dorothy Murphy-Allen, a 91-year-old resident of 310 Linn St. in Trenton, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where she had been a patient since Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton. Rev. Ron Ratliff will officiate. A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. There is no visitation planned at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the Cat Creek Cemetery, located northwest of Brimson.
She was born in Jamaica, IA on Sept. 26, 1914 to Blanche Elsie Cotton and Hugh Leslie Todd. Dorothy lived as a child on a farm section in Iowa, where they raised animals, a huge garden and had an apple orchard. She graduated from Dawson High School, where she played varsity basketball. She had a wonderful life traveling over the United States and living in California, Florida and Rhode Island. When she was 20, she married Stacy S. Murphy, who was serving in the United States Navy. After he retired from the Navy, they moved to Trenton to make their home in 1953. She worked as a private nurse for many years at the hospitals and for private homes in the Trenton area. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death on July 19, 1958. She later married Floyd Allen, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2001.
She was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 25 years.
Mrs. Allen is survived by three daughters, Bonita, now Mrs. Jerry Keith of Coffeyville, KS, Patricia Hessing of Trenton and Judith, now Mrs. Steven Urich of Humphreys; and 12 grandchildren, Kate, Mary, Joan and Patrick Murphy, David and Adam Keith, Ann Taggart, Bryant, Aaron and Matthew Hessing and Amelia and Jessica Urich.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry S. Murphy; and three brothers, Sheldon, Max and Billie Todd.
The family has that suggested memorial contributions be left to the Tenth Street Baptist Church.
