Donald Franklin, a 65-year-old resident of Jamesport, died on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at the Kansas City Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City.

Donald Franklin, a 65-year-old resident of Jamesport, died on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at the Kansas City Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 in the Gee’s Creek Cemetery near Jamesport. Bro. Jesse Cass will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mr. Franklin was born on Oct. 7, 1940 in Boone, IA, the son of Carl Kendall and Henrieta Iona Ferry Franklin. He graduated from Boone, IA, High School and the Des Moines Area Community College. He worked as a tool and diemaker for the Modine Company in Trenton. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the National American Legion. He was also a Mason with the Jamesport lodge and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Boone.

He was married on Dec. 30, 1981 at Boone, IA, to Linda Dittman, who survives of the home.

He is also survived by his mother, Henrieta, of Boone, IA; three sons, Rick Franklin and his wife, Mickie, of Nevada, IA, and twins Daniel Franklin of Columbia and Douglas Franklin of Maryville; a daughter, Rebecca Deskins and her husband, Bill Jr., of Cainsville; a sister, Diane Hovick and her companion, Renald Hunter, of Boone; four grandchildren, Marsadie Franklin and Sabrina, Sierra and Sydney Deskins; five nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The family suggests memorials to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
