Harmon E. Rooks, a 78-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died at his residence on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Anderson-Smith Cemetery at Chillicothe.

A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 at the funeral home. General visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Mr. Rooks was born on Aug. 9, 1927 in Trenton, the son of Victor Hugo and Gertrude Bliss Scott Rooks. He was married on July 9, 1946 in Olathe, KS to Helen Gannon, who preceded him in death on July 6, 2001. He was married on Jan. 18, 2003 in Chillicothe to Ruth Ann Macoubrie, who survives of the home.

He was a sergeant in the Army and a pipe fitter for the Missouri Public Service for 35 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Dwane Rooks of Chillicothe and Doran “Scott” Rooks of Chillicothe; two daughters, Diana Lynn Wood of Glendale, AZ, and Tamla DeAnn Powers of Independence; two sisters, Carolyn Mae Wood of Wisconsin and Marilyn Joann Rowoth of Columbia; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor Hugo Rooks Jr., Richard Bliss Rooks and Morris Andrew Rooks.
