Marjorie Chastine Jackson, a 94-year-old resident of Cedar Rapids, IA, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 at the Living Center East in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005 at the Ravanna Cemetery. Rev. Max Carmichael will officiate. Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton is in charge of the arrangements.
An open visitation and viewing begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mrs. Jackson was born near Ravanna on Feb. 7, 1911, the daughter of Jesse T. and Estella Ruth Cousins Michael. She lived most of her life in Putnam, Sullivan and Mercer counties in north Missouri, except for a few years in the Kansas City area, where she worked. She returned to Mercer County in 1960.
Mrs. Jackson was married on Jan. 30, 1941 in Unionville to William Bryan “Bill” Jackson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1988.
Following her retirement, she finished her education and began another career as a quilter, displaying her work in many states. She continued this career until 1993.
She was a member of the Mercer Christian Church.
She is survived by one brother, Frank Michael of Trenton; one sister, Lois Whitcomb of West Bend, IA; four grandchildren, Karen Tilton, Kathy Carpenter Snyder and Kristy Mooney, all of Cedar Rapids, and Kenny Snyder of Centerville, IA; six great-grandchildren, Holly Pardekooper, Josh Carpenter, Chris Stormm, Andy Christoffer and Tasha and Zach Snyder; and six great-great-grandchildren, Savanna and Gabriel Pardekooper, Dalton, Riley and Abreiana Christoffer and Keyairen Stormm.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Twyla Snyder; a great-grandson, Gary Tilton; a great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Pardekooper; five sisters, Pearl Wolf, Grace Grubb, Gusta Chapman, Jessie McQuerry and Mary Warren; and five brothers, Woodrow, Floyd, Lloyd, Lesley and Byron Michael.
