Donald Ray Sheafer, a 68-year-old Powersville resident, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 at his home.
The body was cremated and a memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. ON Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, IA.
Mr. Sheafer was born Nov. 19, 1936 in Olathe, KS, the son of David and Alma Cobbs Sheafer.
On Feb. 7, 1997, he was united in marriage to Nancy Helen Valentine, who survives of the home.
Mr. Sheafer was an over-the-road trucker for 35 years, driving for many different trucking concerns, including TG&Y and Air Cargo. He was employed for 10 years by Yellow Freight Systems of Kansas City for 10 years before his retirement in 1994. He and Nancy moved from Independence to Powersville in July 2002.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Violet Newkirk and Shirley Zwygart of Cameron, and Dorothy Arnold of Kansas City; four sons, Danny Sheafer of Sand Lake, MI, Ronald Sheafer of Sparta, MI, Timothy Sheafer of Independence, Donald Gene Sheafer of Ed Dorado Springs; three daughters, Donna Reed of Sparta, Betty Brenner of Grand Rapids, MI, and Kimberly Hamic of Independence; three step-daughters, Sheereen Siddiqui of Seattle, WA, Yasmine Carson of Nashville, TN and Tahera Siddiqui of Powersville; eight grandchildren; one step-grandson; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Lineville, IA. They may be mailed to the Kingdom Hall at PO Box 64, Lineville, IA 50147.
