The Rissler Elementary School PTO met Tuesday night, finalizing plans for next week’s book fair and chili supper and hearing reports on several school-related issues.
Plans were finalized for the book fair, which will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 through Thursday, Nov. 10 and from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. The book fair will be held in the gym this year. The chili supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 in the school cafeteria. Sign up sheets were distributed for workers for the event.
Updates were given on the yearbook and spring activity and the group agreed to turn the spring book fair back over to Rissler Librarian Susan Ward. Thank you cards were read for teacher gifts and a donation to the THS Halloween Carnival, as well as the meal provided for teachers during parent-teacher conferences. The group agreed to apply for funds through Grundy Electric Cooperative to help pay for costs associated with new playground equipment that is expected to be purchased in the next year if funds are available for it. Molly Long agreed to write the grant, which has a Dec. 15 deadline.
There will be no December meeting and the next meeting is scheduled for 7 pm., Monday, Jan. 9, which is a change in the regular meeting date.
