Dorothy Frances Peniston, a 94-year-old resident of Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, died at 10:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005 at the care center, where she had resided since July 22, 2005.

Dorothy Frances Peniston, a 94-year-old resident of Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, died at 10:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005 at the care center, where she had resided since July 22, 2005.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Barry Boulware officiated.

Mike Moore was the vocalist and Elaine Walker was the organist.. Songs included “Abide with Me” and “Jesus Savior Pilot Me.”

Pallbearers were Bob McVay, Peter Brewer, Chad Reeter, Charles Peniston, Lowry VanHoozer and Ed Holt.

Burial was in the Plainview Cemetery at Chula.

Miss Peniston was born on April 1, 1911 near Gallatin, the daughter of Robert Lee and Minnie Jane Thompson Peniston. She moved with her family to a farm in north Livingston County in 1920, where they farmed. She attended the Hazel Hurst School, which was adjacent to their farm. She and her brother, A.C., moved to Trenton to make their home in 1975.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a niece, Bertie Lou, now Mrs. Charles Canning of Powder Springs, GA; a great-nephew, Charles Canning and his wife, Laurie, and two great-great-nieces, Blaine Ansley and Kendyll Lane Canning, all of Powder Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Anthony Clay (A.C.) “Bunt.” Price, Bert and Lee Peniston.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wesley United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
