The Missouri Department of Conservation will hold the annual Poosey Fall Driving Tour through the Poosey Conservation Area from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16.

This will be the 19th year that the Poosey Conservation Area has opened its roads to the public to showcase many aspects of conservation practices and provide an up close fall color display.

The tour route will allow persons to drive into the historical area known as “Poosey.” The roads will be graded and mostly rocked for easy travel, however four-wheel drive and high clearance vehicles are recommended. The tour route will take approximately one hour to complete without stops. Persons should allow more time for stops and discussion.

The entrance for the tour will be on the east side of the Poosey Conservation Area (the Pike Lake area).

From Chillicothe, persons can travel north on Highway A to Highway W (at the water tower), continuing north on Highway W to Township Road 502. Sings will be posted on the westbound road. At the “T” intersection, persons then go south on Road 519 to Pike Lake and should continue to follow the signs.

From the north (Highway 6), persons turn south on Highway W to Township Road 502 and follow the directions and signs as mentioned above.

The Pike Lake area and rocked roads north of Highway A will be closed on Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16 for the driving tour.
