Maxine Stevens, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005 at the Beverly Healthcare in Albany.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Pastor Mike Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005 at the mortuary.

Mrs. Stevens was born on Feb. 27, 1922 in St. Joseph, the daughter of Jesse and Zetta King Birt. She was raised in St. Joseph and graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. She was married on Aug. 7, 1979 at DeKalb to Wayne Stevens, who preceded her in death. They moved to Trenton in the 1980s and lived out their lives there.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Coleman of Albany; two sons, Larry Schubert and his wife, Judy, of St. Joseph, and Henry Schubert and his wife, Debbie, of Rosendale; a sister, Mabel Miller of St. Joseph; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Kevin Coleman; two sisters, Mildred Hillyard and Margaret Vestal; a brother, Lee Birt; and a grandson, Toby Schubert.
