Bill G. Powell, a 76-year-old resident of Bella Vista, AR, died at his home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 after a long illness. He was the brother of Marilyn Davidson of Trenton.

Bill G. Powell, a 76-year-old resident of Bella Vista, AR, died at his home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 after a long illness. He was the brother of Marilyn Davidson of Trenton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at the Bella Vista Baptist Church in Bella Vista. The Rev. Michael McCauley will officiate. Burial will be in the Butler Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Jack Leib and Steve Peers, and his grandsons, Jack Leib Jr., Matthew Leib, William Leib and Andrew Peers.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 o’clock tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005) at the Bella Vista Funeral Home in Bella Vista.

Mr. Powell was born on Nov. 20, 1928 in Kansas City, the son of Walter Glenn and Daisy Pendergast Powell. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company in animal health and fine chemicals. He finished his professional career with Mountaire Vitamins, Inc. of Little Rock, AR.

Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Bella Vista. He was active in the Neighborhood Crime Watch and a member of the Men’s 18 Hole golf group. He was a member of the Bella Vista Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doretha Abercrombie Powell of Bella Vista; two daughters, Linda Leib and her husband, Jack, of Enterprise, AL and Cheryl Peers and her husband, Steve, of Des Moine, IA; one sister, Marilyn Davidson and her husband, Charles, of Trenton; five grandchildren, Jack Leib Jr. and his wife, Candida, of Anderson, Matthew Leib and his wife, Dale, of Enterprise, William Leib of Enterprise and Chelsea Peers and Andrea Peers of Des Moines; three great-grandsons, Jack Leib III of Anderson and Kenneth Leib and Tristin Leib of Enterprise; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Bella Vista Baptist Church building fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
