Mamie Gertrude Cassity, a 70-year-old resident of Brookfield and former Milan resident, died on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Mamie Gertrude Cassity, a 70-year-old resident of Brookfield and former Milan resident, died on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Rev. Jack Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery north of Milan. A family visitation is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at the funeral home, where general visitation is under way.

Mrs. Cassity was born Nov. 11, 1934 at Stickney, the daughter of Henry and Ada White Riley. She was married on Jan. 2, 1949 to Andrew Lawrence Cassity, who preceded her in death on April 13, 1995.

Mrs. Cassity and her husband lived in several areas, but spent the majority of their lives in Milan. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church at Milan, where she was a member. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed country music.

Mrs. Cassity is survived by two daughters, Debbie LaFaver and her husband, Garry, of Browning, and Pam Renee Cassity of Leon, IA; eigh grandchildren, Shannon McCollum and his wife, Kelly, Melissa McCollum, KayLeigh LaFaver, Bradley Shane Vasey, LaShell Vasey, Steven Cassity, Rachel Cassity and Andrew Cassity III; five great-grandchildren, Courtney and Madison McCollum, Kari and Kelsey Lorton and Tyler Harp; two brothers, Jimmy Riley of Fulton and David White of Waynesville two sisters, Mary Juneau of Waynesville and Linda Bridgeman of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Andrew L. Cassity II in 1987; four brothers, Johnny Riley, Gene Riley and Claude “Cookie” Riley and Marvin White; and two sisters, Nancy White and Lucy Crider.
