The 44th annual Calamity Jane Days celebration will be held this weekend, Sept. 17-18 at Princeton.

Saturday’s events include the annual Rotary Breakfast at the Mercer County Senior Center from 7 to 9 a.m.; the third Annual Nancy Shew FAC 5k Walk, which will begin and end at Dr. Tammy Hart’s office on Fullerton Street; the baby contest, which includes the selection of Little Miss Calamity and Little Wild Bill; and the children’s parade.

Entertainment will be held throughout the day and will include The Ambassadors (formerly known as Der Polka Prost), Ruthie Holt, Karla Meinke, American Pie (50s, 60s and 70s rock and roll), the Big City Band, and the Princeton R-5 Band and Drum line.

The Shoot-Out Gang will have three performances on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and one performance on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

The Calamity Jane Players will again present a great performance with their own rendition of the melodrama, “Welcome to Hog Holler” or “Vengeance is Swine.” Performances on Saturday will be held at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Sunday performance will be at 2 p.m.

 The second annual Mercer County Bake-Off will be held at the bandstand with registration beginning at 10 a.m. Winners will be announced right after the parade and the entries will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the Sonrise Children’s Home. This will be the first year the local VFW Hall will sponsor Bingo. Their hours of operation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the VFW Hall, located northwest of the square.

There will also be food vendors, crafters and a flea market located around the square all day on Saturday. The annual parade will begin promptly at 1 p.m. to have an entry judged you must be in line at noon.  For more information, persons can contact Kelly Hagan at 660-748-4767.

In addition, local businesses will also have food and beverages available throughout the day and evening.

Sunday’s events include the golf tournament at the Princeton County Club, the car show and a performance by the Krazy Kats beginning at 1:30 p.m. New to the Sunday lineup is the Sand Volleyball Tournament, which is being held by the Stacy Multipurpose Center as a fund-raiser.  Kristi Cutsinger can be contacted for more information at the Stacy Center , 660-748-3490.
