George William “G.W.” Baltzelle, a 69-year-old resident of LaBelle, died on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown. He was the father of Kimberly Bain of Trenton.

George William “G.W.” Baltzelle, a 69-year-old resident of LaBelle, died on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown. He was the father of Kimberly Bain of Trenton.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005 at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle. Rev. John Geilser officiated.
Carol Hayes was the organist. Music included “Why Me Lord”, “One Day at a Time” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Casketbearers were Jim Hayden, Don Hunter, Kenneth Shugart, Cecil Morrow, Alan Catron and Jim McClard.
Honorary bearers were Jack Simpson, Larry Ledford, Lonnie Sloniker, Noel Sweet, Bob Bishoff, Aaron Burr, Buddy Genereau and the LaBelle High School Class of 1954.
Burial was in the Deer Ridge Cemetery, north of LaBelle.
Mr. Baltzelle was born on April 12, 1936 in LaBelle, the son of George Ersie and Gladys Marie Weidner Baltzelle. He was married to Mary Jane Simpson. He was married to Wilma Huse of Branson and was later married to Connie Harris of Macomb, IL.
He was raised in the LaBelle community, graduating in 1954 from LaBelle High School. He served an apprenticeship as a painter and decorator with George Goodapple for eight years in Quincy, IL. He went into the insurance business in 1962 as a life and health agent for eight years, then went into the real estate business in 1966. He joined the H.T. Smith Insurance Agency in LaBelle in 1972 and was the outstanding New Life Agent with Illinois Mutual the same year.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, past president and member of the LaBelle Lions Club and past master of the LaBelle Masonic Lodge No. 222, AF&AM. He was a member of the Lewis County School Board, a member, deacon, elder and chairman of the LaBelle Christian Church and a member of the Missouri Board of Realtors. He also served eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and animals.
He is survived by three children, Troy William Baltzelle of LaBelle, Kimberly Bain and her husband, Dave, of Trenton and Sebastian Bemis and his wife, Twila, of Shell Knob; two grandchildren, Alexandria Bain of Trenton and Travis Bemis and his wife, Chari, of Kansas City; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Raymond and her husband, Don, of Macomb, IL; and one niece, Bobbi Polite.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
