The Grundy County Commission set the 2005 tax levy during its regular weekly meeting held on Tuesday.

There was no one present for a public hearing held prior to approval of the levy, which was set at .1270 on the $100 assessed valuation, the maximum allowable. This was a change in the proposed levy that had been publicized due to a change in the county’s assessed valuation. If 90 percent of the revenue is collected, the county will bring in $111,409.85 from the levy. The total assessed valuation for Grundy County is $97,471,059. The 2004 levy was .2071 and had been increased to make up for years when the levy could have been set at the maximum, but was not.

The commission also met with Terri Henderson and John Woodrich, representing the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce, to discuss support of the chamber and with members of the Trenton Sesquicentennial Committee to discuss support of that event.
