Mabel Lenora Neely, an 86-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 at the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Grundy Center Cemetery at Trenton.
There is no family visitation planned. General visitation is under way until 9 o’clock tonight (Monday, Aug. 29, 2005) at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe and from 8 until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, when the body will be moved to the church and visitation will be held until the time of the service.
Mrs. Neely was born on May 3, 1919 in Grundy County, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys Alta Provorse Gass. She graduated in 1936 from Trenton High School.
She was married on Dec. 15, 1939 in Galt to Cecil Andrew Neely, who preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2000. She was a homemaker and did babysitting and professional ironing for people. She lived in Laredo until September 1959, moving to Chillicothe and living there. She was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers, helping at the United Methodist Church and helping with the Boy Scouts.
She is survived by one son, Cecil Allen Neely of Sedalia; two daughters, Norma Carol Nida of Galt and Mary Elaine Brown of Trenton; one sister, Blanche Peters of Trenton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild, Carroll Nida; and one great-grandchild, Amanda Dawn.
The family suggests memorials to the Circle of Life Hospice. They may be left at or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home at PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
