The Grundy County Commission will hold its annual tax levy hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the commission room, located on the second floor of the courthouse.
The proposed tax rate is .1286 on the $100 assessed valuation, which is the maximum allowed under state law after the sales tax rollback. The levy was set at .2071 for last year, which allowed the county to recoup money it had not collected due to not setting the levy at the maximum for several years. If 100 percent of the tax is collected, the proposed rate would generate $123,803 this year, but County Clerk Kristi Urich said about 90 percent is usually collected, which would be around $111,400. Budgeted revenues for 2005 are $182,823.
