Kathryn F. Connell, a 97-year-old resident of Unionville, died at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005 at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, where she had been a patient the past three days.

Kathryn F. Connell, a 97-year-old resident of Unionville, died at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005 at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, where she had been a patient the past three days.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton, under the direction of the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton. Visitation will take place 30 minutes before the service.

Mrs. Connell was born on May 10, 1908 in Jamesport, the daughter of Robert and Lenora Knight Burge. She was married on March 23, 1924 at Gallatin to James D. Connell, who preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1976. After their marriage, the couple lived at Jamesport, where they owned and operated the Connell Hardware from 1927 to 1944. They moved in 1944 to Trenton, where they owned and operated Connell Hardware until they retired in 1968. Mrs. Connell moved to Unionville in 2003.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at Trenton and the Antique Study Club.

Mrs. Connell is survived by one daughter, Idella, now Mrs. Ed Loughead of Unionville; one son, J.R. Connell of Columbia; a sister, Martha Nickell of El Paso, TX; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Don Connell; a grandson, Patrick Connell; and three brothers.

The family suggests memorials to either the Wesley United Methodist Church or the Missouri Association for the Blind.
