The Grundy R-5 Elementary School is enrolling new students this week at the school in Humphreys.
New student registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, with the first day of school being Wednesday, Aug. 17. School hours will be from 8 a.m. until 2:45 p.m., with buses being loaded by 2:55 p.m. Parents who desire to pick up their child at school may do so after buses are loaded. All children should be picked up no later than 3 p.m. The office should be contacted by 2 p.m. regarding any bus changes.
An open room is planned at the school from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, which allows for students to visit their classrooms and bring their school supplies in prior to the first day of classes. The open room will be for students in grades kindergarten through three.
A community Back to School hot dog roast and open house will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22 at the school. Parents and patrons of the district are invited to drop by and tour the building as well as have a free meal, courtesy of the elementary school. The event is held to thank community residents for their support during the school year.
