The Grundy County Commission has agreed to purchase the Gary Hanes property at 601 Washington St. for the price designated by a three-person condemnation panel last week.
During a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the commission agreed to pay $13,588 for the property, which is part of the location for the proposed county/city law enforcement center. Presiding Commissioner Kenny Roberts said Prosecuting Attorney Jason Spillman will now be working to get a contractual agreement with Hanes for the sale price. If the contract is approved by both sides, the commission will have possession of four of the five properties it needs for the law enforcement center, which will be located just west of the Grundy County Courthouse.
